Marie Antoinette ( yes that is her real name!!) is a new author who is currently writing a book titled ‘Reflections Of My Pain’.  This chronicles the authors challenging times during a what has seemed to her a lifetime of continual heartbreaks.

Rebuild Your Life After Divorce

Did you know how many women will actually want a different hair style when something major happens in their life?  And it is usually the very first thing they do before anything else when this happens.

Women will want to go to the hair salon once they have made that ‘announcement’ that she has split and has faced the situation.  She knows that once she has accepted that she is going through a divorce, she’ll need all the people who love  her around her and support her to help her rebuild her life and move on.

The first step she’ll take ( after the hair salon of course) is to work out who she can and cannot count on.  This is when her real friends stand out.  she needs to have the support of the people who reallycare about  helping her grieve and helping her finds ways to move on.  Most of her so-called friends may say that everything will be o.k and not to worry.  But when they allow your feelings to be written off like it doesn’t matter, they’re not friends at all. 

Once she has found the support and strength to move on, she  will feel the need to make changes- big changes.  She may want to change the color of her hair, change her wardrobe, change her behaviours.  She may want to try things that she never would have gotten  to do before.  She might also think about do things that she never dreamed of!!!

But it always goes back to the hair.  If she has never had short hair, well she may want to try that look.  When a woman cuts or dye’s her hair, she finds empowerment.  she will feel like she has control over herself and her life again.  The truth is that she always did have all the control……  she has the right to change, the right to do whatever it is that she wants, or find that makes her happy. 

But before she starts to let herself  go into a depression, she needs to start thinking about what has happened, what has changed, and what she would like to do as a result of.

Certainly there were many reasons that caused the split in the first place.  Over the years she probably gave up a lot.  She most likely changed because her partner encouraged her to become exactly what he wanted, but…………she is no longer in that relationship and she can now begin to do the things that she once loved.


Any woman who can go through a divorce and come out on the other end is a very strong person indeed.  Some women will collapse and fall into a deep depression. 

Go out and do something for yourself!

If you have always wanted to be a blond, give it a try.  If you have ever wanted to cut your hair – go for it!  Once you begin to do things that you normally would not have dared to do, you will find a liberating freedom.  The freedom to be yourself and to display your new found freedom in whatever way that you so choose!!

That Silent Place

Two of the most influential writers and speakers of my time, and who have inspired my life is Dr Deepak Chopra and Dr Wayne Dyer.     I had the absolute privilege of attending a seminar in Sydney some 20 years ago now and this was the beginning of the rest of my life.  So profoundly moved was I for having heard them both speak, that I walked out of the seminar transformed.  I cannot  describe it any other way.

One of  my more  favourite books that Dr Chopra wrote  is ” Seven Spiritual Laws of Success”.  In the chapter The Law of Pure Potentiality, Dr Chopra suggest practicing silence periodically to experience this Law of Pure Potentiality.  He offers meditation, ideally 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening to experience this field of pure silence and pure awareness.  This is where he says ” is the field of infinite correlations, the field of infinite organizing power, the ultimate ground of creation where everything is inseparably connected with everything else”.

It is through meditation, going within to find this silent space, a space that Dr W Dyer also refers to it as ‘the gap’- that place between thoughts that you will find absolute bliss and connection with our source.  In the Bible it is expressed as: ” Be still, and know that I am God” .

It’s in that silent space between your thoughts that  we find stillness and we tap into our creativity.  However Dr Chopra suggests that in order to find that connection to the field of pure potentiality we need to practice non-judgement.  this is where we are constantly judging things as right or wrong or good or bad.  This creates what Dr Chopra calls ” internal dialogue”.

Dr Wayne Dyer also peaks about meditating and its purpose is to get into the gap where we enter that sacred space that we know as the unlimited power of our Source- the place that takes us to “that awareness”.

In his book  Getting In the Gap Dr Dyer says ” meditating is a way of quieting our chatterbox thoughts and swimming below the surface.  This is where we can be still and know God”.  He mentions that we have about 60,000 thoughts every day so it would be almost impossible to find that space between our thoughts    ‘the gap’ during our waking hours.  So in order to find that silent space – the gap – to connect to our Source- to find the “place of pure potentiality” as Dr Chopra puts it or “the gap that the magic and the infinite possibilites await us” as Dr Dyer writes, we must learn to meditate. 

It is through the practice of meditation that takes us to that ‘gap’ between our thoughts to make conscious contact with our Source  that we find God.

Empowerment Through Our Thoughts

The journey toward self-empowerment is never easy. It is a journey that demands you work on yourself rather than expecting others to change.
When I walked out of a hospital where I had spent six weeks in recovering from what was medically termed ‘ a nervous breakdown’, however this was nothing short of the begining of my metamorphosis.   Nothing in my world around me had changed. Nothing changed except ME.

Changing from within is part of the self-empowerment journey. Your thought patterns have a tremendous impact on your life, especially negative thoughts.
It is the negative though patterns that we cling to that create our outer experiences. though we may not intentionally draw unfavourable conditions into our lives, we do so through our negative thoughts.

but in order to appreciate this fully we need to understand the functions of the conscious and subconscious minds. Although I refer to the conscious and subconscious mind, recognize that you do not have two minds. There are two phases or dimensions of ONE mind.

We use our conscious mind when we learn to play an instrument, drive a car, pick up the phone and dial a number. Your conscious mind deliberately chooses what you will eat, judge, do for a living, which movie you will see, etc. When you use your conscious mind you CHOOSE the thoughts you want to think.

Your subconscious mind is the creative phase of the mind. It takes what your conscious mind gives it and turns your thoughts into reality. Our subconscious mind works to call your aspirations, whether positive or negative, into existence. The subconscious mind has no power of choice nor does it reason. It simply accepts what your conscious mind present it.

Whatever you entertain in your conscious mind long enough or vividly enough eventually passes into the subconscious mind where it begins to achieve substance. The subconscious mind keeps your heart beating, keeps you beating and digests your food without effort from the conscious mind. A conscious experience you have today and forget nevertheless passes into your subconscious mind. Every experience in your life is stored in your subconscious even though you may never consciously recall it.

So how do we change this? reverse it so to speak? How do we control the negative thoughts? And what of the thoughts that pass us so quickly that we are not consciously aware of?

1. You can teach yourself to not give utterance to anything negative. Begin by watching what you say. Be an observer if you can and notice what you talk about. Eliminate negative speech. So often we are draw into discussion about hard economic times, tragic weather, disastrous world occurrences, another person’s misadventures or misfortune. In so doing, we lay foundations for similar negative experiences in our life. Discourage these conversations by refusing to be involved.

2. Feed your subconscious mind with positive statement or affirmations. when you get up in the morning, sit quietly alone and affirm only the best for yourself and the day ahead.  Find opportunities throughout the day to repeat your affirmations even silently to yourself- even for just a minute or two. If you tell your subconscious ten times a day for several weeks that “every day things are getting better and better for me now” you will soon begin to see it manifest in your life.

Empower Yourself during Menopause

I  can recall stories my mother would recount to me over and over again about the women in her village who seemingly suffered with afflictions the doctors could neither diagnose or treat.

Though she too was a very young woman living in Calabria in the South of Italy she vividly remembers the house in the mountains which could only be reached by foot, where these women were exiled, forgotten and left to suffer without remedy for a phase in a woman’s life we no have come to know as Menopause.

And for some today the word menopause creates in a lot of women’s minds the idea that they are ageing, growing old, and will endure symptoms  beyond her control ranging from  hot and cold flushes to deep depression.

However with the vast knowledge that is literally at our disposal – at our fingertips to be more precise – click of a button, women can empower themselves with the knowledge that is available to make this transition from the end of a era in her life toward a brand new beginning of another.

Elaine Hollingsworth is the director of Hippocrates Health Centre in Queensland Australia.  Elaine teaches self-responsibility where one’s health is concerned.  A former Hollywood actress, she lectures on health issues.  Elaine has written a comprehensive book titled “Take Control Of Your Health- and escape the sickness industry.

Empower Yourself Through Any Setback by Tamara Vaughn

Everyone faces challenges in business and in life. And even positive experiences such as getting a promotion or finding Mr. or Ms. Right can present you with challenges. For example, a new position brings new responsibilities and sometimes new headaches, and a new love interest poses the challenge of having to compromise with another person when you’re used to doing things your way. The key to overcoming any challenge is to empower yourself through the event.

In fact, life’s challenges and adversities can be one of the most inspiring, creative, and resourceful periods of your life, if you only take the steps to focus on the positiveand not the negative. Unfortunately, most people have a pre-programmed, download of emotions that dictates how they react to challenges, changes, and transitions. And the majority of times these emotions are not positive. Rather, they are based on resistance and fear, and they put people in the position of reacting and not being able to turn around and direct the situation.

For example, let’s suppose you just got fired from your job unexpectedly. You honestly thought you were doing good work, you actually liked your job, and you had planned to stay there for a long time. Then one day your boss taps you on the shoulder and shows you the door. The natural emotions you probably feel are fear, sadness, and anger. “How am I going to pay the bills?” you lament. “What will happen to me and my family?” “How could they do this to me?”

While these are normal initial emotions, you have to realize that you getting fired from your job could be a blessing in disguise, because there is always something better out there for you…you just have to look for it. The following tips will helps you gain the confidence to face life’s challenges head on and turn them around into opportunities for growth.

 1. Accept that challenges are a learning tool. Challenges educate you about yourself. They define your values and clarify what’s important to you. During any challenge is the perfect time to re-create your life, because challenges force you out of your comfort zone. When people get into a comfort zone, they don’t like to mix it up.

Most people will stay in their comfort zone because although there’s not a lot of pleasure, there’s not a lot of pain either. But when you get uncomfortable, you find that you have resources, gifts, and talents that you haven’t even tapped yet. During times of challenge you havethe ideal opportunity to turn the events around and create the life or professional situation you truly want to live.

2. Be mindful of your self-talk. When overcoming your pre-programmed, download of emotions and re-creating yourself, you need to watch how you speak to yourself. For example, if you got fired from your job, you may hear yourself saying, “I’m a lousy employee.” “No one will ever want to hire me.” “I haveno marketable skills.” Such negativeself-talk will only keep you in a negative state and will cause you to sabotage your own efforts.

Therefore, focus on building yourself up through affirmations. Some good examples of affirmations for our job loss example are: “I am a committed, dedicated employee.” “I have an excellent employer with benefits.” “I am a knowledgeable person with a great deal of experience in my field.” “I am honest and have integrity and maintain that in the workplace.” Make sure your affirmations focus on the skills or traits that will help you overcome your current challenge. Write your affirmations down on 3×5 cards and keep them with you at all times.

Say them first thing in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Also, anytime during the day when a negative thought enters your mind, start saying your affirmations. Soon you will believe your new self-talk and you’ll have confidence in yourself again.

3. Visualize where you want to be or what you want in life. The human brain does not know the difference between that which is real and that which is imagined. So visualize the perfect scenario for yourself. Since we tend to draw to us things that we think about, you can start to re-create your life by simply visualizing what you want.

 As an added benefit, visualization also helps you define your values and beliefs. When you visualize the new job position you want, for example, you can create a picture of the type of company you want to work for and get a better idea of what’s important to you. Now, if an opportunity arises that puts you in a place that’s opposite of what you visualize, you can better decide whether it’s a right move for you.

 4. Surround yourself with a supportive environment. Face it, some people in your life are toxic to your success: people who are negative, who frustrate you, who sabotage your efforts, and who try to hold you back. You need to distance yourself from these people, even if it means hurting their feelings or damaging the relationship permanently. If the toxic person is a close family member, this step can be difficult, but it will free you to experience positive things in life. After all, when you’re trying to come back from a challenge, the only resource you have is your mind.

Therefore, you have to protect your thoughts and your speech, and you do that by getting rid of people who are negative and toxic. Remember that some people love to complain and want company for their misery. And as much as they seem to love you, they will sabotage you because your success intimidates them.

It’s easier for them to keep you down on their level. But this is your life and you have to live it for yourself, not anyone else. So focus on the positive people in your life and ignore the negative ones. Once you do, you’ll see a marked improvement in your current situation.

 5. Open yourself up to new possibilities and paths. Remember, a challenge can be one of the most creative times in your life. Therefore, give yourself permission to think beyond the obvious. After a job loss, for example, you might think to start your own business or to do something you’ve been putting off for years, like take a year off and hike through Europe.

Look beyond what you’re accustomed to and let yourself dream for once. As you do so, just ponder the new experiences and realize that you don’t have to act on the first thing you think of. Use your positive support network as a sounding board for ideas.

You may just stumble upon a new life path that leads to greater fulfillment and success than ever before.

Shift Your Situation Today

The bottom line is that challenges don’t have to make your miserable. When your confidence has been shaken due to a sudden turn of events, following these five tips will help you make it through the rough time and maintain your confidence. After all, you can’t go from surviving to thriving if you’re stuck wallowing in self-pity.

So put these five tips to work today. When you do, you’re bound to have a more enjoyable tomorrow…no matter what the situation.

I feel that one of the most important ingredients in your formula for success is having a clearly defined and vivid vision of where you want to be. At first the “how” is not that important, you need to create a vision that gets you so excited that you develop the mentality that you will stop at nothing to get what you want. Many people first focus on the how than very quickly find themselves overwhelmed with too many details and just as quickly talk them selves out of pursuing their goals. You have to take a leap of faith and trust that the how will be shown to you as you go along. Do you remember the days as a kid with dreams of epic proportions? What happened those dreams? You got older and domesticated by a society that says that having those dreams is foolish. That’s nonsense, why wouldn’t you want to accomplish the things that even as a kid you knew would make you happy. I encourage you to dream like you once used to.

One way I keep myself motivated and keep my vision alive is through my picture book. In my book I have everything that I want and every morning I look at it to remind me what I want in life. Go right now and get some magazines and cut out every picture of the things you want and places you want to visit, don’t be thinking if you can actually get those things now, dare to dream. Remember your mind thinks in pictures, look at your picture book until in becomes as vivid as possible in the theater of your mind. Your mind cant tell the difference between something you remember or something you experience in real time.

Visualization Exercises(meditation):

(Please read this whole section, I will explain why almost all self help fails to produce the results people want)

You can think of meditation as conscious sleeping. Just as you sleep to gain energy for your daily functioning, meditation is conscious sleeping that gives you all the energy(creative abilities) you need for what you intend to accomplish.

I also use lucid dreaming as another way to increase creativity, I will soon write a hub on lucid dreaming.(Lucid dreaming is when you actually become aware in your dream that you are dreaming, once properly trained you can control your dreams)

Use the power of meditation to help you achieve your goals. Strive to everyday meditate one minute for each year of your current age. I am 24, so everyday I try and meditate at least 24 minutes. If you are new to meditation check out this website on transcendental meditation .There are many techniques find something that feels good to you.

Quantum Mind Power

Daily Routine:

1. Pick a nice comfortable place where to meditate. Have an intention on what you plan to meditate on before hand. Ex. A destination you want to visit.

2. Find a comfortable position to sit. Sitting on a chair or on the floor, does not really matter as long as it is comfortable for you.

3. Cross your legs, clasp your hands together.(this helps make your own energy circuit and gives stability)

4.Close your eyes, than stop inner and outer chatter.

5. Relax, begin thinking that your whole body is becoming extremely relaxed.

6. Eyes should be closed.

7. You will notice that your mind is full of many thoughts. Your mind will than begin to ask questions to those thoughts and try and come up with answers whether they are known or unknown. This is why your mind(ego) can be your enemy if it mostly thinks in negative terms.

8. You will need to transcend your mind and thoughts in order to meditate. Your mind and thoughts are what separate you from your higher self, you can also think of your higher self as your subconscious mind don’t worry about the labels.

9. You transcend your mind by simply observing your breath. Don’t inhale/exhale consciously just observe your natural breathing. Don’t go behind your thoughts, if you catch your self drifting just always come back to your breathing. Slowly the amount of thoughts reduces and your breathing becomes thinner and shorter. If you are able to keep all your focus on your breath, you will get to the point of no thought and no breath. This state of no thought is your connection to your divine being and energy body. The more you meditate the more benefits and energy that you will receive. Your own self awareness and consciousness will also expand.

10. You will feel a very pleasurable feeling meditating. If you feel any discomfort in your body these can be possible areas of disease or illness. If you meditate everyday you will heal your body naturally.

11. Now that you are in a state of no thought and total relaxation. Begin to think only on your intention. Remember whatever you think now is in a state that will be impregnated directly into your subconscious. It is incredibly important that you don’t color any of your thoughts with any lack,limitation,dis belief or doubt. This is why almost all self help material does not produce the results people expect. Wishing for more money(or anything else) never works, the thought of wanting more money also has the thought of doubt attached to it. Ask your self how many thoughts that you think about have been modified in a way that is not beneficial to you. You just never realize that you are programming your sub conscious all day. This is why meditation is so powerful. You are able to make suggestions to your subconscious where the thought is not modified in any way shape or form. So if you want to make things happen fast you need to get rid of the concept of attaching time to yourthoughts. You have to remember that everything you get in your life comes based on the conditions that you set up and time is usually one condition that cuases the most frustration with people. Just as a computer programmer gives a computer instructions to complete a task, you program the most powerful computer you have which is your subconscious. Your conscious mind acts as the gate keeper as to what thoughts you let in. Now that you know this choose to become more aware and conscious about what you think all day long. Learn to see the world in a non linear way, remove time from your consiousness and watch how things show up in your life faster than you ever thought.

Thoughts = feelings = actions = results (just like that you can begin to shape your life)

12. Mentally rehearse every moment of it with all your senses. Dare to be like Peter Pan 🙂

13. Visualize in vivid detail, your intention as established fact. Also make sure you meditate only on days you feel good. Remember you want your thoughts to be as pure as possible. This also means that you really find out what you want, make sure its not something you want solely for ego purposes. Thoughts that involve the ego are usually always colored with negativity.

14. With time you will begin to be able to hold vivid pictures of anything(you will develop you third eye). The more you are able to hold onto an image in your mind the more power you give it.

15. Get up and go have a great day 🙂 notice how much energy you have the rest of the day. As you advance in your discipline, you will have a lot of fun basically creating your day before it starts.


To start making that vision a reality you will have to change some of your beliefs and adopt beliefs that will help you reach your goals. Because if you have this great vision of you retiring on your own private beach but deep down you don’t believe you can do it, you have already sabotaged yourself. Your desire and your belief are in conflict with each other and therefore you will not manifest what it is that you want into your life. If you want to be a good leader one day but you currently have the belief that you are a shy person, it will not happen. You need to truly make a decision to adopt the belief that you are really outgoing. When you truly decide to do something you will find a way to do it.

Some Ways to shape your beliefs:

1. Always think Success- as soon as you think about failure forget about it and don’t let anymore negative thoughts snowball. The more attention you give a thought the more powerful it will become than you will make it harder for yourself to get back to a productive mind state. The only way to change how you feel is to think about something else. Whenever you feel doubt, fear, and failure creeping into your mind have a default thought that you can use to avoid giving attention to mental poison. As soon as I feel I am entertaining thoughts of negativity I immediately begin to think about relaxing on a beach and affirm to myself that “I attract abundance to all areas of my life”. The more I try and have the feelings of being on the beach with no worries and remind myself that I am in complete control of how I feel, I immediately feel the negativity begin to melt away as I begin to focus on my new positive thought.

2. Develop the belief that you are better than you currently feel- don’t look at your weaknesses as a burden but as an opportunity to improve your self. When I find something I don’t like about my personality I don’t get down on myself for it, I just realize that now I have something I can work on to make myself better. Most importantly love and accept who you are, not who you will or should be.

3. Believe that sky’s the limit- if you have little goals you will have little success, the bigger your dreams the more potential for your possible success. Even If you think your dream is too big, strive to reach that dream, because you will end up at a better place than if you would have set your sights on a smaller goal. The trick is to really believe you can do it, this just isn’t wishful thinking. Wishful thinking never got anyone anything, you need to find out what you want and get out there and get it. If you really want that house on the beach your mind will come up with ways to help you get it.(develop faith in your self)

How to remove junk beliefs:

1. Meditate on your old belief and tell the truth about it. Now replace it with a belief that will better serve you. Meditate on it until you feel you have changed that belief.

Now when you accept these beliefs it means you will have to raise your standards and develop a strategy that will put you on the road to accomplish what you set forth. Do whatever you have to do. Read any books that will spark your interest or help you discover any distinctions that will point you in the right direction. Find a role model, a person who has already accomplished what you want. Find out what some of their beliefs, interests, body language, image, etc. is and adopt them as your own. Your role model can serve as a blue print, the goal is to cut down on the trial and error so you can get where you want faster than you ever thought possible. You can take all the qualities from all the people you admire and add your own personal touch. Just think of if it as if you are trying to build the person you want and know you can be. Thomas Edison is one of the greatest inventors in history, he was able to elaborate, modify and adapt on other peoples ideas. You don’t have torecreate the wheel just constantly be aware of any success ingredients you come across and make them part of your identity. Think of your mind as a warehouse the more you learn and store will eventually serve as an inventory for future reference, which will breed new ideas and perspectives.

Consistency is key we are all creatures of patterns and habits. In order to become the person you desire to be, start by changing your patterns. Think of all the quality traits you must possess, make a pattern which uses those traits efficiently than strive to be consistent. Consistency will develop into habits and this is key because if you fail to be consistent with your actions you will not be consistent with who you desire to be. This lack of confusion between your actions and what your mind knows you are capable of leads to tremendous amounts of stress, confusion, and even depression. Many other consequences also come from a lack of consistency.

This is why awareness of self is critical; you need to be constantly evaluating your self. Decide if the persona you are currently displaying is the reality that you want for yourself,because with enough time thats what your reality will become.

Dr Dyer goes on to prove this theory – a theory that Dr Hawkins has written a book on titled Power vs Force, by way of a series of little demonstrations or experiments if you will.  You will find them utterly amazing and quite surprising indeed!  Certainly these are experiments you can do yourself to test this theory out.

Change The Way You Look At Things

In this short video Dr Wayne Dyer tells an interesting and humorous story about a man who loses his keys inside his home in the dark and goes outside under the street light to look for them there ,to illustrate how we often look for the solutions to our problems outside of ourselves.  His advice is clear and simple:  “ Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change”.
